Ruby Batts Archie, a native of Rocky Mount, NC is the 16th Mid-Atlantic Regional Director. A life member and golden soror, she was initiated into the Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Virginia State University. A former mayor of Danville, VA, she is a retired educator who has served as chair of the English departments at John M. Langston and George Washington High Schools.

She received both her undergraduate and master's degrees from Virginia State University and later received a Doctor of Literary Letters from Virginia University of Lynchburg. A member of numerous boards and commissions on the local and national levels, she was appointed by Governors George Allen and James Gilmore to serve on the Southside Business and Education Commission from 1995-03.

Her sorority experience is just as extensive as her work within the Danville community. She has held numerous positions with her chapter, Alpha Phi Omega, including president and treasurer. Additionally, she has served on regional and national sorority committees. From 2002-2006, she served as the regional representative to the National Connection Committee.

She is also a member of the Loyal Baptist Church, where she serves as president of the Deaconess Board and is married to Cephus Archie, a retired principal. They have 3 children and grandchildren.
