Opening spring 2013, during the 60th Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, the region will release the second edition of the region's history book. This edition will chronicle the creation, development and expansion of the region by:

> documenting the region's success
> compiling undergraduate and graduate chapter history
> providing images and narratives from each chapter in the region

Grant for Chapters to Facilitate MLK Day of Service Activity (posted Dec. 3, 2011)
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was recently awarded a $15,000 signature grant from the HandsOn Network, a Corporation for National & Community Service intermediary grantee organization, to support our 2012 MLK, Jr. Day of Service activities. Our signature project will be America’s Sunday Supper and the national event will be hosted by the Tampa Bay area chapters in partnership with MacDill Air Force Base. Chapters are encouraged to plan and host local suppers and/or service project events on Jan.15 and/or Jan. 16. A limited number of reimbursement grants ($500 maximum) will be awarded to chapters that plan to host both a Sunday Supper and service project event. The deadline for grant appliation is 12 p.m. on Dec. 16, 2011 (view information).

AKA and US EPA Unite to Educate Underserved Communities on Environmental Risks (posted Nov. 28, 2011)
Chicago, Illinois – November 25, 2011 - Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have joined forces to protect communities from environmental health risks through an aggressive and proactive educational offensive outreach effort (view press release).

2012 FBI Volunteer Internship Program (posted Oct. 19, 2011)
Each summer, the FBI hosts an outstanding group of undergraduate/graduate students in the FBI Volunteer Internship Program. Positions for this 10-week unpaid internship are available in local Field Offices, Headquarters, and CJIS. The FBI's Personnel Recruitment Unit (PRU) will accept applications from Oct. 17 - 28, 2011. 2012 NASCAR Diversity Internship Program (posted Oct. 18, 2011)
The application for the 2012 NASCAR Diversity Internship is now available online. This program is a 10-week, paid, summer internship, available to ethnically diverse college students. Announcement from the International Archives Committee for Cluster Conferences (posted Oct. 4, 2011)
The International Archives Committee has sent a reminder – calling for Chapter Research for The Unforgettable, Unsung Sorors of the Civil Rights Movement Boule Exhibit.

Each chapter Archives Committee Chair is asked to submit information to our Regional Representative about the timeless Civil Rights and Human Rights service of our historic and current Unforgettable, Unsung Sorors. The exhibit design group needs a brief personal and sorority biography along with the Soror's civil rights story, photo and contact information, if available. Our next deadlines are October 20 and November 20.

We will celebrate our Sorors and the everlasting impact they have made for the community in this very special Boule Exhibit.

M.A. History Book - Timeless History: Remembering, Collecting, Telling Our History (posted Aug. 9, 2011)
Timeless History is an initiative by Carolyn House Stewart, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's international president, to recognize history as fundamental to illuminating the sorority's very core and necessary for the organizational and global recollection of the sorority's essence. The deadline for history submissions is Sept. 30, 2011. Submission information is listed in the submission guideline packet (view packet or Power Point presentation).
